1. Go to EntertainMART 2. Play Guitar Hero.

Before I get into my mischief at EntertainMART, here are a few notes: The store is messy and overwhelming when you first walk in. There is usually something CHEESY playing on the TV screens near the front of the store (in this case, the movie Australia.) EntertainMART is the type of mega store where I will easily get lost for hours if I am not careful, making me want to give it the “stay away” cross people normally give to vampires.

Now, on to the mischief portion: A few months ago I traded in some CDs and movies at EntertainMART and got more money than I would have gotten at Half Price Books. I have liked it ever since then.
EntertainMART has different video games set up around the store that anyone can play (some have easy chairs in front of them.) I was not sure if the Guitar Hero was working, so I went up to an employee and, feeling silly, said in a small voice, “I want to play the Guitar Hero over there. Do you know if it’s working?”
Jason checked it out and said the game was working. It was the first time I had ever played a video game in a store. And the first time I had ever played Guitar Hero. I jammed to “Beat It” (props to Michael Jackson), using my above-average guitar skills. I think I got 150 to 200 points, at the most. Then, later, I saw a 17-year-old with a soul patch who had 25,000 points. I asked him how he did it, and he shrugged and said he did not know. So not fair.
I also got to experience some vinyl while I was there (a.k.a., PLAY A RECORD ON A RECORD PLAYER. ) EntertainMART has a couple of listening stations where you can listen to records you may buy while in the store. While there, this stealthy blogger noticed record collector and stylish boy Jon Cook listening to Neil Young and The Jimi Hendrix Experience on the record player next to her. An 11-year-old who used the record player after him seemed clueless about how to properly place the record on the record player. I listened to two songs from Prince’s “Sign ‘O The Times.”
The Heart Dallas BOTTOM LINE: EntertainMART is worth a visit. Where else can you get the movie “Notorious” for $9.99 ? Or a Rod Stewart classic for $8.99? The staff is not always super-helpful, but what do you expect at a Mega store??? Despite the catchy name, EntertainMART should change its name to EntertainMENT because it is easier to pronounce!
